THE SUPREME TRAVEL ADVENTURE: AROUND THE WORLD ON THE QE2 in 2007

We are pleased to announce the release of a new book on the 2007 world cruise of the great Cunard ocean liner, the Queen Elizabeth 2.

The Supreme Travel Adventure: Around the world on the QE2 in 2007 is now available for your collection.

The book is a 231 page complete voyage diary with over a two hundred fifty colour photographs from the four month voyage.

The QE2 will never again make this journey, so this is an important record of the last true round-the-world cruise. The book makes a great memoire of the events of those four months at sea and in the fantastic ports.

Each day and location is chronicled right down to the exact location of the ship at noon and the weather. The book abounds in details about the ship herself and her history, and about the ports and events on this magnificent voyage. Meet the crew and the passengers as they sail across all the oceans, over the Equator four times, and stop on every continent.

You will follow authors John Clearwater and Pamela Wheat as they cruise around the world on the QE2 in Grill class for 108 days.

Here are just a few of the many exciting events chronicled in the book:

  • - Relive the moment of entry into Sydney Harbour, surrounded by hundreds of boats and watched by over 200 000 people, and passing the new Queen Mary 2 before the welcoming fireworks.
  • - Sail into Cape Town at night overshadowed by Table Mountain; then be trapped in harbour as a wall of fog surrounds the ship as we prepare to cast off.
  • - Be greeted by singers and dancers in India, South Africa, Viet Nam, Japan, the USA, Australia, New Zealand, and others.
  • - Surround yourself with the children of Papua New Guinea who were let out of school to see the massive ship in the harbour, and by their parents who insisted on taking photographs of the passengers.
  • - Sing karaoke with the captain and Pamela.
  • - Pass through the Panama Canal surrounded by crocodiles.
  • - Kiss the cod at both Crossing-the-Line ceremonies.
  • - Be there as we drift just short of the dock in Viet Nam because the tug boats would not pass up a line.
  • - Experience the Norovirus plague haunting the vessels for the first three weeks.
